What is faith? Is it an irrational leap in the
dark? Is it the outcome of reasonable arguments that have convinced us to believe? Is it
the work of the intellect alone? If so, then what merit could there be in it? Is it the
work of the will alone? Then how could we distinguish it from those beliefs that we
consider that people hold irrationally? The way we understand the nature of faith will effect not only our own personal believing, but many aspects of Catholic doctrine, as well. It will effect, for example, how we do theology (see the discussion area Faith and Method in Theology), or how we conceive Biblical inspiration or the development of doctrine. Just what is the nature of faith, and what is the role that love plays in it? Now it is your turn to contribute to this discussion. Send us your questions and comments: arraj@innerexplorations.com |
